Do 5 of these and you will ace.
1. Be real. Markers hate imaginative stories, and almost find reasons to penalise them. Write about real, fact-based situations.
2. Write endings that are moral with personal reflection.
3. Write more explanations and less inferential type of writing (teachers don't want to think too hard about what the intended meaning of a line is)
5. Use Flowery / elaborative descriptions
6. Start Stories differently (use unusual intro methods)
7. Use Dilemmas and the element of choice (therefore making it a moral story)
